The Highland Officer’s Sash of the late 18th and 19th Centuries was made of the traditional crimson silk cord in a “sprang” net, the same as other officer’s sashes of the period. As Highland Officers wore their sashes over the shoulder, the sashes were cut shorter and secured with a knot, often very ornate, with the two ends, each finished with a ball crown and 8 in. fringe, extending below the knot. As the production of sprang net has become prohibitively expensive our sashes are produced in a 10-1/2 inch wide tube-knit mesh of silk-viscose that closely duplicates the appearance of the old sprang net. We offer a simple four-in-hand knot, but if you wish to adopt a more flamboyant style, please let us know and we’ll send your sash untied and in a slightly longer length.

To measure, establish the point on your right hip where you wish to have the sash knot rest. Have another person measure you from that point up across the front of the chest, over the mid-point of the left shoulder and down across the back to the starting point. Send that measurement in inches and we will adjust to the closest sash measurement.
