Sword Knot: 18/19th Century, British
In the last quarter of the 18th Century more ornate sword knots for officer’s use made their appearance. These items were made of woven gold and/or silver wire rather than the traditional leather. Although a number of variants existed, the style we produce was one of the most popular. It has a tassel of crimson twisted fringe surrounded by a layer of 1/4″ or 3/8″ dia. gold bullion fringe secured in a tube-type crown in gold wire and crimson silk. The wrist loop was made of 5/8″ wide flat gold wire braid with 3 parallel lines of crimson silk.
We also carry an American Officer’s style in silver bullion with blue silk threading.
